Wild Faith Herb Farm is seeking hardworking, friendly, and flexible individuals who are motivated to join a dynamic, justice-based herbal farm. Successful candidates are self-directed, quick learners who are physically fit and able to maintain a positive attitude through the ups and downs of a farm season. Candidates must be open, passionate, loving, and available to learn about privilege, diversity, oppression and liberation. Previous farming experience is preferred, but not necessarily required.

Stipend: No financial stipend, this is an educational-based work trade.
Educational Opportunities: Compensation comes in the form of place-based learning, personal mentorship, and agricultural and herbal classes and workshops. Interns will leave with knowledge of the growing, harvesting and wildcrafting of native and local plants. In completion of internship, interns will understand the values and methods of remedy-making, and leave with their own home-made products. Interns will receive discounts to classes taught by Kenzie outside of the farm and free admission to any classes taught on the farm.
Topics covered: Agricultural techniques, including greenhouse building, soil and compost quality, mechanized versus manual farming, seed to harvest, making and selling value-added products, etc. Business skills and entrepreneurship Flower Essences and other spiritual herbal preparations Permaculture practices Food and herbal justice Medicinal herbalism Remedy-making Pollinators and bee-keeping basics Plant identification Plant communication and communion Balance of work and play in agriculture And more!

Internship Details: Interns will be asked to devote around 8 hours of work to the farm weekly between May 15th and October 15th of 2018. Crew members will be responsible for seeding, planting, weeding, cultivating, harvesting, washing and processing for this 1-acre organic herb farm. All of the work is done by hand. Crew members must prioritize efficiency, be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions, and be able to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly. If physical disabilities are present, please communicate needs in application. Each week will have a topic of discussion. Learning that will be taught in the field and in the “classroom,” which is located under the property’s pine tree. The topics will follow the season from seedling production to cultivation to harvesting to processing of plants. Amount of educational time will be dependent on the amount of farm work devoted by intern. Interns will be responsible for field work, outside of farm readings (encouraged, but not required), watering duties, value-added product making (with supervision), and use of respectful language. Interns must show up on time prepared for the day with list of items provided to intern. Interns will be encouraged to hone in on their passions for farming and herbalism, and create an optional independent project. One on one mentoring will be provided for this project. There is access to space on the farm to cultivate our own garden, which you can create outside of internship hours. Details will be provided during phone interview and once accepted into the internship. All forms of oppression including racism, sexism, classism will not be tolerated in this internship. Mistakes happen, which will be called in with love and learned from. Any intentional acts of oppression will lead to the termination of the internship.
